We hate to say it, but one store is enough! We're closing shop at ArtisanSweets.com—and expanding NaturalCandyStore.com.

We started ArtisanSweets.com in 2006 with the idea of offering premium quality confections (mostly non-chocolate) and sweeteners from around the world. We wanted to demonstrate that not all sweets are junk food—that even candy can be made from real ingredients worthy of foodie sensibilities. With the low-carb craze finally dying down, and chocolate-mania taking hold, we felt it was perfect timing. In a world of single-source coffees, teas, olive oils, wines, and everything else, where was the candy and sugar?

Since opening, we have provided three categories of high-quality sweets: authentic regional confections from around the world, all-natural candy, and sweeteners, including a large collection of varietal honeys. While each of these falls under the theme of "high-quality" sweets, they are obviously quite diverse products, both in terms of sourcing and marketing. That's why, in 2007, we spun off the natural candy items into their own store: NaturalCandyStore.com.

In the three years since starting ArtisanSweets.com, we've fine-tuned our business model quite a bit. While we still think a varietal honey store is a fantastic idea, and we'd love to travel the world seeking out regional confections to bring back home, we've made the decision to focus exclusively on the natural candy category from now on. During this start-up phase, we've learned a lot about operating an online retail business and have come to appreciate that we must focus, focus, focus to be successful. Now we are ready to do just that and take NaturalCandyStore.com to the next level!

In closing ArtisanSweets.com, we are discontinuing quite a few items. But don't worry—many of your favorite candies will still be available at NaturalCandyStore.com. And the remaining discontinued items are on sale at 50% off until they run out. What a great opportunity to pick up some Italian gianduja spread or French butter caramels. We will miss carrying these items!
