Italian Cilento Fig "Salami"
by Santomiele, Italy Note: The "Best by" date on these is 6/30/08, but they'll be good for several more months and we're still happily eating them! Take advantage of this great price on a special treat from Italy. A mixture of white Cilento figs, almonds, pistachios, cinnamon and rum are wrapped in split figs and presented in the shape of a salami. The natural sweetness of Cilento figs makes added sugar unnecessary in this traditional, real-food confection. Serve thinly sliced with cheese and wine, or as a satisfying snack. You might notice a thin white coating on some of the figs, which is a sign of their sweetness. The natural sugars in the fig come to the surface as a result of the drying process. ArtisanSweets.com Exclusive!
